晚歲迫偷生，
還家少歡趣。
嬌兒不離膝：
畏我復卻去。
憶昔好追涼，
故繞池邊樹。
蕭蕭北風勁，
撫事煎百慮。
賴知禾黍收，
已覺糟牀注。

且用慰遲暮。

It's odd to be an old man
and have new joy in life

to cherish little pleasure
amidst the larger woes

my darling son hugs my knees
afraid I'll disappear again

I think about last year
when he and I escaped the heat

lying beneath the trees
that rim the pond

but now there's a north wind blowing
that tells us winter's coming

I have to think about our needs
to face these hundred worries

I hear, at any rate,
the harvests have been good

the wine is being pressed
I'll have enough to drink

to drown bad memories nd help
fend off unhappy thoughts.
